Silloth is located on the English side of the Solway Firth. It is well placed for trade with western Europe, Ireland and the Isle of Man, and has good road connections with the M6 motorway, southern Scotland and the North-East of England. A variety of cargoes has been handled at the port in recent years, but the most regular traffics are grain, fertiliser and cement. Silloth is administered from Barrow.
